Sun, Moon and Rising — what each one is

The Sun is your core identity, the Moon your inner emotional world, and the Ascendant (rising) the sign that was climbing the horizon at your birth. Together they’re a fast read on a chart — but they’re the opening, not the whole book. Your full chart adds every planet, house and aspect.

Questions people ask

What are the big three in astrology?
Your sun sign, moon sign and rising sign. They’re the most talked-about placements and a good entry point to the rest of the chart.
Do I need my birth time for the big three?
For the rising sign, yes — it needs an exact time. The sun and (usually) the moon don’t. Without a time we show what we can and skip the Ascendant.
Are the big three enough to understand my chart?
They’re a strong start, not the finish. The full chart — planets in signs and houses, plus aspects — is where the detail lives.
