Retrograde is an optical effect

A retrograde planet only appears to move backward — a real, computed optical effect from Earth's viewpoint. Astrologers read it as an inward, reflective flavour, not a warning.
The explanation
Retrograde sounds ominous, but the motion is an illusion of perspective. As Earth and another planet orbit at different speeds, that planet can seem to drift backward against the stars for a while — an effect our software computes exactly. Nothing actually reverses. In a birth chart, astrologers read a retrograde planet as turned inward: its themes tend to work more privately, by reflection and revisiting, before they show on the surface. A retrograde Mercury, for instance, is often read as a mind that thinks things through twice. None of this is a flaw or an omen; it is simply a different flavour. Take it as an invitation to notice where you process quietly, and leave the doom stories aside.
