Fixed signs

In the astrological tradition, the fixed signs — Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius — sit in the middle of each season, and astrologers read them as the sustainers. Where they're strong, you tend to hold a course, finish what you begin, and stay loyal to a person or a purpose past the point where others drift. Each holds in its own key: earth secures, fire keeps devotion, water deepens, air stands by a conviction. The strength is endurance; the shadow is a grip that won't loosen when the thing has run its course. Loyalty that still nourishes you and loyalty that only holds on out of habit can look identical from the inside; learning to tell them apart is the whole art here.
